Job Description:

Position Overview:

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the supervision, coordination, and evaluation of nursing care within the inpatient rehabilitation unit. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care while overseeing daily operations, staff management, and departmental performance.

The Nurse Manager collaborates with leadership to implement policies, improve outcomes, and manage financial and operational aspects of the unit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure patient safety and adherence to clinical standards of care.
• Supervise and coordinate nursing staff and daily unit operations.
• Promote effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Serve as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, and care teams.
• Support continuity and coordination of patient care.
• Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
• Manage staffing processes including hiring, scheduling, and evaluations.
• Provide coaching, counseling, and staff development.
• Act as a clinical resource for the nursing team.
• Oversee financial management, budgeting, and resource utilization.
• Plan and conduct staff meetings, training sessions, and educational programs.
• Maintain 24-hour accountability for unit operations and patient care delivery.
• Identify and implement process improvements within the department.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or related field required
• 3–5 years of experience as a staff nurse in inpatient rehabilitation
• 3–5 years of management experience or demonstrated leadership ability
• Strong clinical knowledge in rehabilitation nursing

Licensure & Certifications:

• Active RN license (Texas or compact license)
• BLS required (AHA or Red Cross)
• ACLS required within 12 months of hire
• CRRN preferred (required within 3 years of hire)
• Must pass FIM exam within 60 days of hire and maintain certification
