Position Overview
System One is seeking a highly motivated Commissioning Engineer III to support the Natrium Demonstration Plant project. This role focuses on integrated design, commissioning, and operation of plant systems and structures, with particular emphasis on commissioning plans, scheduling, and testing product development.
The successful candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, operators, and project managers to ensure smooth integration of design, commissioning, and operational strategies across all phases of the project.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate geographically diverse design and commissioning teams to develop supporting design and testing documentation.
Develop and implement commissioning administrative programs, procedures, and integrated project schedules.
Provide subject matter expertise on nuclear plant commissioning, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
Support the development of plant-level and system-level requirements, specifications, and strategies for commissioning and lifecycle operations.
Lead commissioning and design evaluations for plant integrated control, transient event response, and operational optimization.
Interface with contractors and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and quality.
Support licensing and regulatory documentation, including Safety Analysis Reports.
Oversee nuclear island commissioning processes to ensure testing meets design and safety criteria.
Promote continuous improvement through the application of nuclear industry best practices and configuration management principles.
Required Qualifications
B.S. degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 7 years of direct nuclear power plant commissioning experience with safety-related systems.
At least 5 years of commercial nuclear reactor operations experience; Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) or Shift Technical Advisor qualification preferred.
Experience developing and implementing commissioning administrative programs and procedures.
Strong familiarity with EPC contracts and integrated plant design principles.
Working knowledge of P6 Primavera or equivalent scheduling tools.
Proven understanding of NQA-1 or ISO 9001 quality standards.
Comprehensive knowledge of nuclear regulatory requirements, plant work control processes, and operational philosophies.
Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing competing project priorities independently.
Preferred Skills
Experience developing or approving operations and maintenance procedures.
Familiarity with Risk-Informed methodologies or probabilistic design approaches.
Demonstrated ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams and manage cross-functional collaboration.
