Job Summary
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Neurosurgery team in San Antonio, TX. This role offers a comprehensive mix of outpatient clinic, inpatient care, and operating room first assist responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in neurosurgery or a related surgical specialty and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient clinic care including new patient evaluations and follow-up visits
- Perform inpatient rounding, consults, and post-operative management
- Serve as first assist in neurosurgical procedures as needed
- Evaluate and manage patients with neurological and spinal conditions
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies including imaging and labs
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, and recovery plans
- Collaborate closely with neurosurgeons, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR
Qualifications
- Current Texas license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- National certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA)
- Previous neurosurgery or surgical experience preferred
- Experience with first assist or willingness to obtain training
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex patients
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time schedule with a mix of clinic, inpatient, and OR responsibilities
- Call responsibilities may be required
