Networking Engineer

Davidson is seeking a Networking Engineer for network and system administration, integration enhancements, and the operational and preventative maintenance of lab infrastructure in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate will ensure the lab's network environment remains secure, reliable, scalable, and compliant with DoW cybersecurity requirements. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can design, implement, troubleshoot, and sustain complex network environments while supporting dynamic research and test operations.

Responsibilities:

• Design, configure, implement, upgrade, and maintain network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, and virtual networking components
• Upgrade network configurations to support evolving modeling, simulation, and test requirements
• Configure and maintain VLANs, routing, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, NTP, and network segmentation
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity, latency, and configuration issues
• Maintain network documentation including diagrams, configurations, and baselines
• Assist with lab IT modernization and technology refresh initiatives
• Assist with infrastructure automation security management orchestrations using scripting tools (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible, SCCM etc.)
• Collaborate with software developers, cybersecurity teams, and system engineers to ensure secure and reliable development and test environments
• Support cybersecurity audits and accreditation activities
• Support deployment and integration of systems at test ranges

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 8+ years of experience in network engineering, systems administration, and/or IT support
• US citizen with active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with CI/CD tools
• Experience with virtualized environments
• Security+ CE or higher (DoD 8570 / 8140 compliant)
• CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent certification
• Linux certification (RHCSA, etc.)
