Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology.
- Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience identifying recurring errors in deployment packages or specifications and driving feedback loops to improve design accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Experience with Linux (e.g., run commands, move directories).
- Knowledge of both layer 1 physical infrastructure (DWDM, AC/DC power, OSP/ISP) and layer 2/3 networking (TCP/IP, routing) in a carrier class scale environment.
- Familiarity with network troubleshooting and testing tools and with network automation tools, scripting, or SQL to query databases and track deployment consistency.

As a Network Implementation Engineer, you will be the initial point of our efforts to execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. You will work with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors, all to position your team and organization for success.
You will facilitate faster, better, and more efficient, positive outcomes for the business and our customers. Your objective will be to build the world’s most reliable, cost-effective and scalable network to support all of our current and future customers and users globally.
As a Network Implementation Engineer, you will be on the front lines of our efforts to deploy private data networks. You will work with Network Architects and Engineers, Design Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers, Supply Chains and Technical Project Managers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors, all to position the metro for which you are assigned accountable for success.
You will use your experience in optical transport, data centers, and colocation, as well as your familiarity with the local metropolitan areas to which you are accountable to affect positive outcomes and facilitate reliable, faster, better, and more efficient outcomes. Your team's objective will be to build the world’s most reliable, cost-effective and scalable WAN network to support users globally.Google's network provides services to millions of Internet users around the world. Our metros are on the edge of our network where Google connects to its users. The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Oversee and conduct quality assurance of installation technicians for rack, stack and installation of networking equipment.
- Commission and test routers, optical transport equipment, and other network devices in new and existing network nodes across Google's global network.
- Generate implementation plans and provide technical leadership and guidance during deployment activities. Own network documentation, updating and maintaining network drawings and plans.
- Work closely with project management, network engineering and rest of the engineering team to identify in advance potential problems in network installations, including in the areas of facility power (AC/DC), cooling, security/access, rack layout and cable management.
- Travel as required between sites primarily in the North East.
