Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and implement projects and initiatives related to network access and design, acting as a senior technical resource for network technologies.
- Maintain and administer core networking devices including firewalls, switches, routers, wireless controllers, and access points.
- Manage and support wide-area and local-area networks to ensure proper functionality and configuration.
- Oversee VOIP phone systems and networks, ensuring reliable communication infrastructure.
- Serve as the primary contact for vendors and partners on network issues, products, and services.
- Perform periodic network inventory and configuration audits.
- Lead IT network projects from inception through to completion, coordinating hardware maintenance and updates.
- Provide remote support and on-call assistance as needed.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce processes, policies, and procedures related to network services and equipment.
- Research new systems and network technologies, making strategic recommendations to management.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A minimum of a B.S. degree in computer science or engineering, or 14 years of full-time, relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- At least 10 years of full-time professional experience in network design and support, including LANs, WANs, and wireless networks.
- Experience designing and supporting VOIP systems and QoS/CoS configurations.
- Proficiency with network protocols such as BGP, MPLS, VPN, OSPF, TCP/IP, and STP.
- Knowledge of authentication/authorization technologies (802.1x, NAC, Aruba Clearpass, Cisco ISE, etc.) and ACLs.
- Support and configuration experience with VPN technologies (site-to-site, IPSEC, client VPN).
- Hands-on experience with all levels of network hardware including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Demonstrated ability to produce technical documentation and communicate effectively across departments.
- Preferred: Experience in highly regulated industries, familiarity with Fortinet, Aruba OS, Linux administration, relevant certifications (Cisco, Aruba), and awareness of industry standards like 21 CFR Part 610 or ISO 25746.
- Eligibility to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
