IN THIS MOTOR GRADER HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Maintain gravel roads all year using a motor grader-shape, smooth, and keep the crown right.
  • Plow snow with motor graders and, at times, a tandem axle truck.
  • Perform day‑to‑day inspection and repair of equipment; aid mechanics in preparing graders for the snow season.
  • Make building repairs at outlying shops as needed.
  • Oversee maintenance graveling performed by contractors and county staff.
  • Occasionally mow ditches using a mower and tractor.
  • Own your blade route-set priorities and manage time based on road conditions; take additional direction from the Highway Superintendent as conditions change.

DO YOU BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS?

  • Class B license, and the ability to obtain a Class A license
  • 3 years of experience in operating heavy equipment
  • Experience in maintaining and repairing heavy equipment
  • Knowledge of construction equipment and the materials used
  • Ability to take orders and resolve problems
  • Physical ability to lift up to 70 lbs, stand for prolonged periods, bend, stoop, and stretch
  • Good interpersonal skills
