Mobile Diesel Technician (Founding Baton Rouge Tech)
Transwest Mobile Truck & Trailer
Baton Rouge, LA
Help Us Launch a New Market!
Transwest Mobile Truck Repair is expanding into Baton Rouge, and this role is a key first hire in the market. This technician will operate with a high level of independence and trust, represent the company directly with customers, and help establish the standard for service quality, professionalism, and reliability in the region.
This is not a role for someone who needs constant oversight. We are looking for a true all-around professional; a senior mobile diesel technician who takes pride in their work, communicates clearly with customers, and understands what it means to be the face of a growing operation.
If you enjoy autonomy, ownership, and being relied upon to “do it right the first time,” this role was built for you.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the primary mobile diesel technician supporting customers throughout the Baton Rouge area
- Perform advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty diesel equipment, including engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and drivetrains
- Work independently in the field, managing your daily workload, service priorities, and customer interactions
- Diagnose complex mechanical issues using scan tools, service manuals, and hands-on expertise
- Communicate directly with fleet managers and customers, providing clear explanations, repair recommendations, and professional service updates
- Complete scheduled and unscheduled repairs safely, efficiently, and with minimal supervision
- Maintain accurate service documentation, work orders, and inspection records
- Operate cranes and specialized equipment as needed to complete repairs
- Help establish best practices and service standards as the Baton Rouge operation grows
- Act as a trusted representative of Transwest Mobile in a new market
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of hands-on diesel technician experience, preferably in mobile or field service environments
- Strong diagnostic capability across diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrain components
- Proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
- Professional, customer-focused communication skills
- High level of integrity, reliability, and personal accountability
- Ability to supply your own basic hand tools appropriate for the role
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (company vehicle provided)
- Ability to pass background screening
- Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor and shop environments
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE certifications or OEM training (Cummins, Detroit, Freightliner, etc.)
- Prior experience serving as a lead tech, senior tech, or primary field technician
- Experience building or maintaining long-term customer relationships
- Strong organizational skills and comfort managing service flow independently
- Experience representing a company directly with fleet managers or jobsite leadership
