Position Title: Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher
Reports To: Principal/Sr. Executive Director
Location: Carter G. Woodson Charter School K-12
Carter G. Woodson School is seeking a passionate, student-centered Middle School English Language Arts Teacher to join our growing instructional team. Qualifications
North Carolina Teaching License in English Language Arts (or eligibility for licensure)
Teaching experience preferred (both early-career and experienced educators are encouraged to apply)
Strong instructional skills in reading, writing, and critical thinking
Ability to differentiate instruction and engage diverse learners
Effective classroom management grounded in respect and consistency
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Reliable attendance and a commitment to being present and engaged for students
What You’ll Do
Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned ELA instruction
Create a structured, inclusive classroom where students feel seen, challenged, and supported
Use student data and work samples to inform instruction and support growth
Partner with families to support student learning and success
Collaborate with colleagues through planning, professional learning, and school-wide initiatives
Contribute positively to a mission-aligned school culture
