Microbiology Quality Assurance Lab Technician

Job Description: Responsible for performing microbial test procedures to determine the level and/or presence of microbes in processed and packaged IQF vegetables. Verify plant sanitation practices are effective by conducting daily plant pre-operational inspections, plant environmental monitoring, and product testing.

Shift: Primarily Day Shift – availability required for overtime, some holidays and weekends

Starting Pay: $21.35 - $28.75 per hour D.O.E.

Benefits: Permanent, fulltime position benefits include medical, dental, and vision on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.  Upon qualifying, eligible for paid vacation, 10 paid holidays, jury duty, bereavement leave, 401k + matching, and Life Insurance. Job Duties: Including, but not limited to:

  • Working knowledge of GLP’s and aseptic techniques
  • Executing laboratory testing according to standard procedures
  • Receiving, labeling, preparation, and analyzing samples. Preparation involves composite preparation, the ability for precision pipetting, and 3Mpetrifilm plating
  • Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment
  • Working with multiple departments to ensure quality and food safety
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suites specifically Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment to meet established deadlines
  • Ability to work with various cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to possess a strong attendance record
  • Ability to maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Food processing experience including product quality and/or food safety programs
  • PCQI for Human Food Certification
  • HACCP Certification
