Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for a Metallurgical Engineer to join our growing team.
This position is located on-site in Hamilton, Washington State.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Janicki Industries is seeking a hands-on Metallurgical Engineer to join the team. In this role you will work with aerospace grade metallic materials such as Titanium, Aluminum, Corrosion Resistant Steel and High Strength Steels and other alloys. You will support all processes associated with these metallic materials such as Machining, Forming, Heat Treat, Shot Peen, Forging, and Casting. You will bring your materials expertise on metal properties, their behavior during forming, joining and welding as well as inspection. You must be comfortable working in the shop environment. It is equally important for candidates to have the ability to work freely on the production floor as they have an in-depth knowledge of materials and processes.
The following essential job functions are performed as a Metallurgical Engineer:
- Provides materials and process support throughout the full life cycle of the product from design to manufacturing and delivery
- Reviews and defines metallic materials and process specifications and other engineering documents used to control design, certify and produce hardware
- Approves test reports and manufacturing planning for critical metallic parts such as forgings, castings and machined parts
- Identifying impacts of non-conformances associated with metallic materials and processes and corrective/preventative actions for future corrective action
- Conducts failure analysis to help determine cause and corrective action
- Conducts R&D testing as needed
- Leads in evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to future projects
- Collaborates with multiple engineering teams
- Produces requirements, specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes
- Maintains an overview of production processes and facilities and works with Management and Production personnel to develop and implement improvements for optimal results
- Provides direction to new Engineers on the Production Floor
- Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
- Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- B.S. in Mechanical Manufacturing, Materials or other engineering field required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with metallic materials and metallic processes preferred
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Office products and CAD/CAM systems. Experience with SAP or similar ERP software required
- Working knowledge of common metallurgical processes used in general fabrication required.
- Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Salary range for this role is between $83,000 - $145,000 plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
