Job Summary:
The Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse serves as a leader in delivering high-quality patient care using the nursing process, adhering to the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and established Scope & Standards of Practice. This role involves guiding and assisting licensed and ancillary team members, maintaining accountability for patient outcomes, and fostering an inclusive, culturally sensitive care environment. The RN actively contributes to achieving departmental goals while upholding professional responsibility, ethical practice, and organizational values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply the nursing process effectively to deliver safe, patient-centered care.
- Assess learning needs and implement appropriate teaching strategies for patients, families, and other care team members.
- Delegate, communicate, and manage nursing team resources effectively.
- Utilize data and evidence-based practice to evaluate and improve patient outcomes.
- Foster a culture of customer satisfaction, staff engagement, and nursing excellence.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of unit and organizational objectives.
- Stay current on applicable laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with all privacy, safety, and ethical standards, including immediate reporting of any concerns.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Certification in a clinical specialty area.
Required Skills:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Proficiency with computers, software, and web-based applications.
Preferred Skills:
- Effective verbal and written communication across all levels of care delivery.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong leadership and delegation abilities.
Additional Skills:
- Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and waste.
- Capability to meet heavy physical work demands, including lifting and moving patients or equipment.
