Cohen Eye Institute is hiring a friendly, organized, and dependable medical receptionist to support a busy eye care practice. This role helps deliver an excellent patient experience through strong front desk service,
scheduling, insurance verification, and patient communication.
Position Summary:
The Medical Receptionist / Front Desk Coordinator greets patients, answers phones, schedules appointments, verifies insurance, collects payments, and keeps patient information organized and up to date. This role works closely with providers, technicians, and office staff to keep front office operations running smoothly.

This role works closely with providers, technicians, and office staff to keep front office operations running smoothly.
What You Do:
- Welcome patients in a warm, professional manner and create a positive first impression.
- Check patients in and out, verify demographic and insurance information, and collect required forms.
- Answer incoming calls promptly, route messages appropriately, and maintain professional phone etiquette.
- Schedule new and follow-up appointments according to provider schedules and office guidelines.
- Verify insurance eligibility, referrals, and authorizations before appointments when needed.
- Collect copays, balances, and other patient payments accurately.
- Scan and upload ID cards, insurance cards, consents, referrals, and other patient documents into the system.
- Communicate clearly with patients about arrival times, paperwork, referrals, and office policies.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient reception area.
- Assist with general administrative duties, including faxing, filing, copying, and correspondence.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous medical office, ophthalmology, optometry, or front desk experience preferred.
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable using computers, scheduling systems, and multi-line phones.
- Able to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional, dependable, and respectful with patients and coworkers.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
