Job Details
Key responsibilities include:
- Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility through direct payer communication
- Manage the full billing lifecycle, including charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, and accounts receivable follow-up
- Research and resolve claim denials, resubmissions, and appeals to maximize reimbursement
- Monitor payer policy changes and assess their impact on billing operations and revenue
- Analyze reimbursement data to identify trends, errors, denials, and opportunities for improvement
- Generate billing, reimbursement, and revenue cycle reports for internal stakeholders
- Develop and implement billing procedures, workflows, and process improvements
- Ensure compliance with Medicare, state programs, commercial payers, and HIPAA regulations
- Conduct audits, data clean-up, and quality checks to maintain accuracy and completeness
- Collaborate with internal teams, including IT, to improve billing systems and workflows
- Send invoices, track payments, follow up on late balances, and resolve billing discrepancies
- Provide billing education and training to internal and external stakeholders as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in medical billing, revenue cycle, or healthcare finance
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
- Experience working with EHR and billing systems such as Epic, Kareo, Athena, eCW, Office Ally, or similar platforms
- Proficiency in medical terminology and insurance plan structures
- Strong analytical skills with experience in reporting, audits, and data analysis
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office tools
