Job Details
Responsibilities:
As a Consulting Medical Billing Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Managing and streamlining medical billing processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
2. Reviewing patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtaining any missing information.
3. Following up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
4. Checking each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount.
5. Coordinating with insurance companies to resolve any discrepancies and ensure correct payments.
6. Assisting with Medicare and Medicaid claims, appeals, and audits.
7. Advising and training staff on medical billing procedures and best practices.
8. Identifying and rectifying billing errors or discrepancies.
9. Keeping abreast of current billing regulations, payer requirements, and industry trends.
10. Providing solutions to complex billing issues and recommending process improvements.
Qualifications:
To be considered for the Consulting Medical Billing Specialist role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in a consulting role.
2. Extensive knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing procedures.
3. Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of the healthcare industry's coding language.
4. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and billing software.
5. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex billing information to staff and clients.
7. Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and ability to multitask.
8. Knowledge of federal and state laws relating to medical billing and compliance.
9. Certification from the American Medical Billing Association (AMBA) or Certified Professional Biller (CPB) certification is preferred.
10. A Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field is preferred.
