Are you a dynamic Medical Assistant eager to join a growing private rheumatology practice? We are looking for a motivated individual to fill an onsite position at our Raleigh, NC office. Enjoy 3-day weekends every week with office hours Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including a 30-minute paid lunch break. Our office is closed on Fridays! We also offer pay of up to $21 per hour (depending on level of experience) as well as a competitive benefits package, featuring an employer-subsidized medical base plan, along with paid holidays and PTO.

About the Job and the Responsibilities:
- Perform basic patient care procedures, such as rooming patients, taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and assisting with examinations.
- Explain treatment procedures to patients and prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
- Educate patients on medication administration, self-care techniques, and preventive measures.
- Administer IM and subq injections as directed by healthcare providers.
- Document patient information, medical history, medical reconciliation, and treatment plans accurately in electronic health records.
- Other clinical support responsibilities include disposing of contaminated supplies, calling prescriptions to a pharmacy, preparing and administering medications as directed by a physician, and authorizing drug refills as directed.
- Provide medical administrative support, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and coordinating referrals.
- Assistance with prior authorizations and appeals to insurance companies for critical therapies required for patients.
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician
- Performs other administrative duties as directed
Education and Experience:
- High school or GED graduation required
- Some clinical work experience and/or externship/internship required
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (especially with eClinicalWorks) is a plus
- Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant, certification a plus but not required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong communication, bedside manner, and interpersonal skills to provide excellent patient service.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced private practice.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changes in healthcare practices.
- Working knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures applicable to work performed.
- Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients.
- Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in a clinic setting
- Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions
- Invested in the growth of the practice from the start and desire to show initiative in improving clinic workflow and patient care practices.
