As a Pediatric Medical Assistant in our urgent care setting, you will play an essential role in supporting high‑quality, family‑centered care. Our clinics care for pediatric patients with a wide range of urgent needs, including flu, strep, COVID‑19, minor injuries, and more. You will support providers through in‑house testing, clinical procedures, and positive patient interactions that help families feel informed and supported.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support & Procedures:
- Perform accurate patient triage, including obtaining vital signs, assessing symptoms, identifying urgent concerns, and communicating findings promptly to providers.
- Perform in-house diagnostic tests, including flu, strep, COVID‑19, urinalysis, and other point‑of‑care tests.
- Assist with procedures such as ear irrigation, splinting, burn care, wound repairs, and other minor interventions under provider supervision.
- Ensure accurate medication dosing for pediatric and adult patients.
Patient Education & Experience:
- Provide clear, supportive discharge instructions to patients and families.
- Participate actively in patient and caregiver education—helping families understand treatment plans, preventive care, and follow‑up needs.
- Maintain a warm, welcoming demeanor that promotes trust and patient satisfaction.
Clinical Awareness & Safety:
- Recognize signs of worsening symptoms and promptly alert providers.
- Adhere to all infection-control procedures and help maintain a clean and safe environment.
Teamwork & Communication:
- Work collaboratively with providers, nurses, and administrative staff to deliver coordinated, efficient care.
- Contribute to a positive, team‑focused culture through communication, respect, and reliability.
- Participate in team development and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred.
- CMA or RMA certification preferred.
- Previous experience in urgent care or primary care strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of pediatric and adult medication dosing.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient‑first mindset.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and stay current with best practices.
Compensation:
Pay: $19.00 – $23.00 per hour.
