We are currently looking for an enthusiastic medical assistant with experience to join our family medicine clinic.
Laboratory functions - collects specimens on all ages of the population, venipuncture as needed
Clinical functions- tasks include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting physicians during examinations and procedures. Assists in facilitating patient flow by assessing work to be done, anticipating patient and physician needs, taking action to expedite the delivery of patient services. Escorts patients back to the clinical area and prepares them to see the physician. Cleans rooms and prepares for the next patient, setting up equipment for special procedures and tests. Maintaining inventory of clinical, laboratory, and house-keeping supplies.
Administrative functions - Provides back-up support for the Patient Services staff including such activities as greeting patients, registering patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, assisting patients with registration forms, giving patient instructions, processing mail, scheduling follow-up visits, and completing patient check out. Prior authorization knowledge. Preferred experience with Athena Health Medical record system.

Education / Certification Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited medical assistant training program. Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant.
Must have current CPR certification. Any intern student hired must obtain certification within 6 months of hire date.
Minimum Experience: Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements, Worked in a medical office, clinic, urgent care, or emergency room.
Minimum of two years of experience working in a healthcare setting with similar responsibilities is required.
Knowledge of OSHA safety standards, infection control, biohazard waste management, sterile technique, medication administration, first aid techniques, medical terminology, and general medical office operations and procedures. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be proficient with using a computer, including expertise with specialized software such as practice management and electronic medical records. Must thrive in a fast-paced team environment and be willing to work cooperatively with and under the supervision of other healthcare professionals.
