Medical Assistant Externship Coordinator

 

The Externship Coordinator plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. Coordinating student clinical and lab hours ensures that students meet their objectives, guiding them toward success in their careers.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure students meet clinical objectives and verify their progress regularly
  • Achieve assigned extern-to-hire metrics to support student career placement
  • Maintain communication with clinical affiliates through newsletters to relay crucial clinical information
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and Graduate Employment Director to achieve all goals
  • Assist in new clinical affiliate acquisition and preceptor orientation
  • Document site visits and conduct audits to maintain quality standards
  • Provide problem-solving support for students during clinic hours
  • Engage in ongoing training, classroom instruction, and assessment activities to enhance student learning
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Licenses/Certifications

  • Unrestricted State Driver's License

Education/Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of related work experience in occupational field associated with the training provided (required)
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Associate Degree (preferred)
  • Experience with Medicaid/Medicare claims, scheduling, patient accounts, and patient billing (preferred)
  • Coding experience, CPC or AAPC (preferred)
  • Prior teaching and management experience (preferred)

Skills

  • Must have current car insurance and valid unrestricted driver’s license
  • Must meet extern site contracts requirements
