Medical Assistant (ER Patient Liaison)

Express Healthcare Staffing is seeking a motivated, patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our team in a unique ER-based role. This isn't your typical clinical back-office position; you will be the face of patient advocacy, helping accident victims navigate the first critical steps of their care journey.

The Opportunity

You will represent Express Healthcare within a local hospital ER in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. Your primary mission is to engage with eligible accident patients immediately, providing them with the resources and guidance they need to facilitate a smooth recovery and treatment plan.

Schedule & Locations

• Total Hours: 36 hours per week (Full-Time).
• Humboldt Park Site: One 12-hour shift (10:00 AM – 10:00 PM).
• Secondary Site: Three 8-hour shifts at a nearby partner location.
• Requirement: Must be open to working weekends.

Primary Responsibilities

• Patient Engagement: Identify and approach eligible accident patients in the ER to initiate support services.
• Care Coordination: Provide a clear overview of treatment plans, scheduling options, and available resources within the hospital network.
• Clinical Documentation: Accurately log all patient interactions and updates within the Epic EMR system.
• Collaborative Care: Work hand-in-hand with ER medical staff and Case Management to ensure seamless transitions for all care plans.
• Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and hospital safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Technical Skills: Proficiency with Epic EMR is required.
• Education/Experience: Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar clinical patient-facing role.
• Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred but not required.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of HIPAA and general hospital compliance standards.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills and the ability to provide empathetic guidance in a fast-paced ER environment.
