Medical Assistant – Contract
Location: Joshua, TX
Job Type: Full-time, Monday–Friday (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Pay Rate: $18-$20/hr
Job Description
We are is seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Assistant to join our clinical team at the Joshua location. In this role, you will be the primary support for our physicians, Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs), and nursing staff. You will play a vital role in organizing the clinical environment, ensuring patient flow is efficient, and providing high-quality care within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
The ideal candidate is a compassionate communicator who excels in a fast-paced environment and maintains the highest standards of patient confidentiality and infection control.
Top Responsibilities & Daily Tasks
Your daily routine will involve a blend of clinical procedures, administrative documentation, and patient interaction. Key tasks include:
- Clinical Patient Intake (Rooming):
- Escort patients to exam rooms according to clinic policy.
- Prepare patients for examinations by gathering initial intake data and recording vitals.
- Conduct telephone and in-person screening, limited to gathering information for clinical review.
- Procedural Support:
- Perform patient-oriented procedures and administer non-intravenous medications under the MA scope of practice.
- Execute diagnostic tests, including performing EKGs and operating diagnostic equipment (excluding interpretation).
- Perform simple specimen collection via non-invasive techniques and venipuncture (phlebotomy).
- Assist with wound care by changing dressings and obtaining cultures.
- Clinic Maintenance & Quality Control:
- Organize, stock, and sanitize exam and treatment rooms between patient visits.
- Perform regular quality control checks on clinical equipment to ensure safety and accuracy.
- Strictly adhere to standard infection control precautions and Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO).
- Documentation & Coordination:
- Record all patient care activities in the medical record accurately and in real-time.
- Coordinate patient care pathways as directed by physicians and company standards.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Certification: Must hold a Nationally Recognized Medical Assistant certification.
- Life Support: Current BLS certification for healthcare providers.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in phlebotomy and basic computer literacy.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical terminology and standard clinical protocols.
- Soft Skills: Proven customer service excellence and the ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
