DESCRIPTION:
Edmonds College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Faculty position in Mechatronics and Robotics within the Engineering Technology Department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers in mechatronics, robotics, and advanced automation. We are seeking a dynamic educator and practitioner who is passionate about hands-on learning, emerging technologies, and student success.
Primary responsibilities for the Mechatronics and RoboticsFaculty position include:
- Teaching and developing courses in mechatronics and robotics, including areas such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electronics, automation, pneumatics/hydraulics, industrial power systems, and smart manufacturing.
- Designing and delivering engaging learning experiences that prepare students for real-world engineering technology careers.
- Developing course materials, assessing learning outcomes, and providing meaningful feedback to support student growth.
- Integrating technology as needed to support student-centered learning and success.
- Advising and mentoring students in academic planning and career development.
- Collaboration with faculty and industry partners to strengthen curriculum, integrate new technologies, and align coursework with industry standards.
- Active participation in departmental initiatives, college governance, and professional development activities.
- Contributing to ongoing program assessment and continuous improvement efforts.
- Teaching across modalities as needed — including in-person, hybrid, and online courses — with potential for day, evening, or weekend assignments.
This is a tenure-track faculty position, reporting to the Dean of STEM with an anticipated start date of September 14, 2026.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree, or equivalent degree in a field related to mechatronics, automation, robotics, engineering, or engineering technology conferred prior to the start of employment.
- Demonstrated professional work experience in the field of mechatronics, robotics, industrial automation, engineering, or artificial intelligence.
- At least one quarter (or semester) as the instructor of record teaching mechatronics or engineering courses in a higher education institution, preferably a community college.
- Experience teaching, training, or mentoring others in the fields of mechatronics, robotics, and/or industrial automation.
- Experience and/or interest in artificial intelligence.
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is not a remote position; the successful candidate will be expected to be on campus. Work is typically performed in a classroom and office and can require standing or sitting for extended periods. Faculty members are required to use computers and other technologies in the work environment.
COMPENSATION:
The salary is based on the current faculty salary schedule; placement is based on education. The current range is $88,536.91 - $89,988.74 annually for a 172-day appointment, with contractually guided increases to $107,394.12. The college provides an excellent benefits package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and a retirement plan.

- For education and degrees completed outside of the United States, an independent evaluation approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) is needed before the hiring process will be completed.
