SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer, Lead to support the design, analysis, and documentation of mechanical and electromechanical components supporting naval and defense systems. The position supports the full engineering lifecycle including solid modeling, prototype development, thermal analysis, and environmental qualification testing in accordance with military standards.
Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Independently research and analyze data such as customer design proposals, specifications, and technical manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
- Perform thermal analysis of components and support Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT) in accordance with Military Standard procedures.
- Develop technical drawing packages and engineering documentation.
- Create drawing packages (Level-3 drawings, block diagrams, Bills of Materials [BOM], manufacturing, assembly, modeling, renderings, and installation documentation) using Autodesk Inventor 3D and AutoCAD.
- Analyze specifications and performance requirements to ensure designs can be produced using existing manufacturing methods.
- Evaluate feasibility of designing new components or modifying existing components while considering cost, available space, time limitations, manufacturing constraints, and other technical factors.
- Support engineering design reviews and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Six (6)+ years of full-time professional experience working as a Mechanical Engineer.
- Experience performing thermal analysis and supporting environmental qualification testing (MIL-STD preferred).
- Experience working with CAD software (AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor preferred) with strong knowledge of 3D modeling, Bills of Materials (BOM), and manufacturing documentation.
- Ability to evaluate cost, manufacturability, and quality considerations in engineering designs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DoD or U.S. Navy engineering programs.
- Experience supporting prototype development, system integration, or environmental testing of defense systems.
