Our Client, a Energy Services company, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer II for their Olive Township, MI location.
 
Responsibilities:
  • This is an on-site engineering position at a power generating facility.  Senior Mechanical Engineers assist in maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting equipment to operate in a safe, reliable manner.  They work with site Operations, Maintenance, and construction contractors and vendors.  The Senior Mechanical Engineer acts as System Owner for multiple systems and individual pieces of equipment.  These can include pumps, heat exchangers, cooling and service water systems, boilers, steam turbines, coal and ash handling systems.  Due to the nature of the assignment, a remote work option is not available.
  • Preparing specifications for purchases of mechanical equipment and materials and estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation
  • Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential mechanical engineering projects and studies and provide technical support to other departments and personnel as needed
  • Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities
  • Ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing mechanical systems specifications or technical drawings
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawings, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, mass balance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with vendors and suppliers for all mechanical engineering equipment matters. Manage the development and implementation of mechanical systems
 
Requirements:
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Mechanical and technical skills
  • Proficient with computer-assisted design (CAD) software
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program OR Engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program plus a Professional Engineering license.
  • 4+ years Relevant experience (Power utility or heavy industrial preferred)
