Mechanical Engineer - Building Systems

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Building Systems to design HVAC and plumbing systems for innovative modular buildings used in commercial, multifamily, hospitality, and industrial applications. This role blends traditional MEP engineering with modern off‑site construction methods, giving you the opportunity to design systems that are manufactured, assembled, and tested in a controlled environment before deployment.

Requirements

What You’ll Do

• Design HVAC, hydronic, VRF, mini‑split, and packaged mechanical systems for modular buildings
• Design plumbing systems including water supply, drainage, venting, stormwater, and specialty piping
• Perform mechanical and plumbing load calculations
• Select equipment and prepare specifications
• Produce construction documents in Revit and coordinate with architectural and structural teams
• Review shop drawings and support fabrication teams during module production
• Ensure compliance with IMC, IPC, IBC, and local codes
• Lead and mentor designers/drafters
• Support continuous improvement of modular MEP design standards

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 5–10 years of mechanical/plumbing building‑systems design experience
• Strong proficiency in Revit (required)
• Experience with commercial, multifamily, hospitality, or industrial building projects
• Understanding of modular or prefabricated construction (preferred)
• Ability to lead designers/drafters and coordinate with cross‑functional teams
• Strong communication and documentation skills
