Description:
  • Mechanical designers, sometimes called drafters, create designs for mechanical devices such as machines.
  • They are involved in the entire process, from sketching an idea through the manufacturing and testing of the finished product.
  • A mechanical designer can design a wide variety of products, such as refrigerators, robotics, heating equipment, automotives, and aerospace products.
  • Mechanical designers start by creating a blueprint for a requested product, which involves brainstorming, creating rough drafts of the blueprint, and creating subsequent detailed designs.
  • Once the designs are complete, the final blueprint is created and provided to the company or client for approval.
  • Throughout development, the mechanical designer works with engineers to identify any areas of the design that need to be altered or improved.
  • Sometimes this may result in a completely new design being developed. Once a product is created, mechanical designers work with quality assurance engineers to ensure that the product has no defects or abnormalities.
