Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Overview:

System One is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's team. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and documenting advanced mechanical systems that support innovative products. Your efforts will be crucial in developing new solutions and improving existing products to ensure top performance, safety, and quality throughout the product lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document mechanical designs for new products and modifications, supporting manufacturing and service teams.
  • Review aircraft manuals and technical documentation to understand system functionalities and specifications.
  • Conduct data collection trips to evaluate component sizes, functionalities, and performance, and identify suitable part substitutes when needed.
  • Review designs to ensure they meet all technical and contractual requirements through proper analysis.
  • Troubleshoot design or manufacturing issues, providing practical solutions to optimize product performance.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams, offering technical guidance, answering inquiries, and assisting with assembly processes.
  • Create detailed layout drawings and project proposals, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Interface with vendors to source and evaluate purchased components, maintaining supply chain efficiency.
  • Support marketing and project teams by providing technical expertise for product development and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and apply innovative engineering principles to enhance product designs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; candidates with relevant experience and an associate degree will also be considered.
  • 1-5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within aerospace or high-precision industries.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and design documentation.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems, technical manuals, and safety regulations.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across teams and with external vendors.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and other office tools. Experience with hand and power tools, precision measurement tools, and PPE is a plus.
