Exact Staff is hiring for our client, a globally recognized manufacturer with over 50 years of experience designing and building aerospace autoclave systems. This Mechanical Design Engineer role is a high-impact opportunity to work on complex, production-quality pressure vessel systems supporting domestic and international aerospace projects.

We are seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer with at least 4 years of hands-on design experience. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative engineering environment while also being able to manage projects independently and deliver code-compliant, fabrication-ready designs.

  • Location: Compton, CA 90220
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:30am – 5:30pm
  • Pay: $90,000 – $130,000 annually (DOE)

Key Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical components, structures, mechanisms, and pressure vessels in compliance with ASME and AISC standards
  • Create 3D solid models and assemblies using SolidWorks
  • Produce detailed fabrication, layout, assembly, and installation drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD with GD&T standards
  • Design pressure vessels per ASME Section VIII Division 1
  • Perform engineering hand calculations (stress, strain, deflection)
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Perform thermal, heat transfer, and process load calculations
  • Develop CFD simulations using ANSYS Fluent
  • Collaborate with fabrication teams to ensure designs support manufacturing
  • Coordinate with vendors to integrate engineered components
  • Participate in R&D and continuous improvement initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (ABET-accredited)
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in:
  • Mechanical and structural design
  • Fabrication drawing development
  • FEA and stress analysis
  • Engineering calculations
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Autoclave and/or pressure vessel design experience
  • Experience with Compress software
  • Advanced CFD experience (ANSYS Fluent)
  • Strong background in heat transfer and flow analysis
  • Aerospace systems design experience
