Exact Staff is hiring for our client, a globally recognized manufacturer with over 50 years of experience designing and building aerospace autoclave systems. This Mechanical Design Engineer role is a high-impact opportunity to work on complex, production-quality pressure vessel systems supporting domestic and international aerospace projects.
We are seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer with at least 4 years of hands-on design experience. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative engineering environment while also being able to manage projects independently and deliver code-compliant, fabrication-ready designs.
- Location: Compton, CA 90220
- Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:30am – 5:30pm
- Pay: $90,000 – $130,000 annually (DOE)
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components, structures, mechanisms, and pressure vessels in compliance with ASME and AISC standards
- Create 3D solid models and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Produce detailed fabrication, layout, assembly, and installation drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD with GD&T standards
- Design pressure vessels per ASME Section VIII Division 1
- Perform engineering hand calculations (stress, strain, deflection)
- Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Perform thermal, heat transfer, and process load calculations
- Develop CFD simulations using ANSYS Fluent
- Collaborate with fabrication teams to ensure designs support manufacturing
- Coordinate with vendors to integrate engineered components
- Participate in R&D and continuous improvement initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (ABET-accredited)
- Minimum 4 years of experience in:
- Mechanical and structural design
- Fabrication drawing development
- FEA and stress analysis
- Engineering calculations
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Autoclave and/or pressure vessel design experience
- Experience with Compress software
- Advanced CFD experience (ANSYS Fluent)
- Strong background in heat transfer and flow analysis
- Aerospace systems design experience
