The Maintenance Mechanic works in an outdoor chemical industrial plant to inspect, repair, install, and maintain production equipment within the facility. This position includes routine field and shop repairs, including shop work and fabrication — the availability to work nights, holidays, weekends, or overtime on a rotating On-Call Basis. The Maintenance Mechanic works with other crafts and the Production as management instructs.


Responsibilities

  • Ensures safe machinery and mechanical equipment operation by completing preventative and corrective maintenance requirements on motors, pumps, agitators, blowers, conveyor systems, and various production equipment utilizing a Preventative Maintenance (PM) program to continually reduce unscheduled downtime.
  • Troubleshooting equipment & repairing the rotating equipment such as pumps, mixers, loading arms, etc.
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions and validate work performed.
  • Perform quality assurance and sign-off tested piping systems and other related items by following applicable plans and specifications.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery such as Forklifts, Extended Boom Lifts, Scissors Lifts, Manlifts, and Excavation Equipment
  • Flag cranes, figure weights, and know how to rig all types of lifts.
  • Complete all assigned work orders within the time allotted and maintain complete records of work performed using detailed logs and good communication skills with all groups/departments.
  • Always understand and Follow safety guidelines and wear prescribed PPE.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree - Associate Degree, Certificate in Industrial Maintenance, or High School Diploma with equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in Industrial Maintenance/Mechanical Trade, Chemical Production Facility is preferred.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Knows how to read and interpret P&ID and General Arrangement drawings.
  • Experience in SAP Maintenance Module preferred.
  • NCCCO TSS/TLL Crane Operator Certification is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to do physical inspections (i.e., climbing, reaching, extending).
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work in an environment that has extreme temperatures and humidity.
  • Ability to work in permitted confined spaces.
