Maternal - Fetal Medicine Physician

ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Locum Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) physician to provide office and inpatient coverage during an active recruitment period. The provider will join a two-physician service covering high-risk obstetrics, supported by an NP and multidisciplinary clinical staff. The practice primarily manages high-risk pregnancies and utilizes EPIC for documentation.

Additional Scheduling Details:

• Ongoing coverage needs (exact future dates TBD)

• Estimated credentialing timeframe: 90 days

• Average scheduled patients per day: 27

• One physician per site (two-provider service model)

• No supervisory responsibility over other healthcare providers

Practice Setting:

• Office and inpatient coverage

• 95% high-risk pregnancies, 5% low-risk

• Nursery Level III

• 3 exam rooms

• Onsite ultrasound (GE 10 equipment)

• No onsite lab

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Management of high-risk maternal and fetal conditions

• Care for patients with co-morbidities impacting pregnancy

• Perform and manage procedures including:

  • Amniocentesis

  • Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS)

  • Cerclage (preferred)

• Management of:

  • Pre-eclampsia

  • Multiple gestations

  • Fetal growth restriction

  • Chromosomal and congenital abnormalities

  • Pre-term labor

  • Hypertension and thrombophilia

  • Genetic disorders and birth defects

• Participation in vaginal and cesarean deliveries as needed

Support Structure:

• 1 rotating NP

• RN clinic educator

• Sonographer

• Genetic counselor

• Front office team

EMR System:

• EPIC

• ViewPoint

Required:

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Maternal Fetal Medicine

• Fellowship trained in MFM

• Active Virginia (VA) medical license

• BLS certification

• Self-Query NPDB report (dated within 30 days of presentation)
  

Preferred:

• AIUM Certification

This position is ideal for an experienced MFM physician comfortable managing complex, high-risk obstetrics in both outpatient and inpatient settings within a collaborative, two-provider model.
