Job Summary:
Material Specialist is responsible for accurately receiving and storing material in the proper locations, distributing and issuing material to the job on the production floor in a timely manner. This role ensures that inventory is maintained to ensure accurate counts to keep operations running efficiently.
Job Duties:
- Receive, unload, and examine incoming materials to ensure they meet specified requirements, verifying their accuracy against purchase orders and shipping documents, and reporting any discrepancies.
- Store materials in their designated areas using suitable material-handling equipment (such as forklifts and pallet jacks), and update storage locations as needed.
- Retrieve materials for various jobs and distribute items promptly and accurately.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate inventory records within the ERP system.
- Safely move materials throughout the warehouse to the production line.
- Adhere to safety procedures, including appropriate lifting methods and equipment operation protocols.
- Participate in monthly cycle counts and contribute to the annual physical inventory process.
- Ensure that the warehouse and workspaces are kept clean, organized, and compliant with company and safety standards.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to operate material-handling equipment (forklift certification).
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory systems and Microsoft Suite.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs. and stand or walk for extended periods (five plus hours).
- Fast-paced warehouse manufacturing setting.
- May require overtime, shift work, or weekend hours dependent on production needs.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and warehouse equipment.
