Our client, a leader in autonomous mobility, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Test Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a Test Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Materials & Failure Analysis Lab, supporting critical testing activities that drive innovation and quality assurance. Job Title: Materials Engineering Mechanical Test Engineer
Location: Foster City, CA
Pay Range: $76 per hour + benefits
What's the Job?
- Operate Instron Universal Testing Machines (UTMs) for various mechanical tests including tensile, compression, shear, bend, peel, and fatigue.
- Set up and execute ASTM and ISO standard tests, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Design and develop custom test fixtures and setups to address unique testing requirements.
- Prepare test specimens using basic fabrication tools, including cutting, polishing, and torqueing.
- Document fracture surfaces and tested components using optical microscopes, capturing high-quality images for failure analysis.
What's Needed?
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical testing within a laboratory or vehicle development environment.
- Proficiency in operating Instron or equivalent Universal Testing Machines.
- Knowledge of ASTM and ISO mechanical test standards.
- Experience with CAD software, particularly CATIA, for designing custom fixtures.
