Our Client, a Business Manufacturing And Supply company, is looking for a Material Handler / Expeditor for their Fairport, NY location.
 
Responsibilities:
  • The Material Handler / Expeditor plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials throughout the manufacturing process. This position is responsible for staging, moving, counting, and coordinating materials to support production schedules, minimize shortages, and maintain accurate inventory records. Acting as the key liaison between planning, warehousing, PSA (Production Supply Area), and the production floor, this role is critical to achieving operational efficiency.
  • Pull, stage, and deliver materials to production lines according to work orders and pick lists.
  • Replenish Production Supply Areas (PSA) using FIFO principles and proper bin management.
  • Return unused or excess materials to stock with appropriate documentation.
  • Move Work-in-Progress (WIP) between operations, adhering to routing instructions and priority schedules.
  • Perform material transactions (issues, returns, and transfers) within SAP/S4/EWM.
  • Support cycle counts and physical inventory efforts, including PSA and WIP accuracy checks.
  • Validate bin quantities, identify discrepancies, and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records with proper tags, labels, and storage location updates.
  • Monitor material shortages, track critical parts, and escalate risks for red/yellow materials.
  • Collaborate with planners, buyers, supervisors, and warehouse teams to address urgent material needs.
  • Participate in Clear-to-Build (CTB) reviews to confirm material availability.
  • Expedite internal WIP and supplier deliveries to ensure production schedule adherence.
  • Investigate and resolve root causes of shortages, including staging errors, transaction discrepancies, and PSA issues.
  • Maintain visual controls for PSA bins, kanban boards, and ensure compliance with 5S standards.
  • Provide support to production teams with material-related inquiries, substitutions, or alternate parts.
  • Flag damaged, expired, or suspect materials and route them to MRB/Quality for review.
  • Remove scrap material and segregate non-conforming items.
  • Operate hoists, carts, pallet jacks, and other lifting devices properly and safely.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation standards and support audit requirements.
 
Requirements:
  • HS Diploma or GED with relevant experience - minimum required.
  • An associate degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a material handling, inventory management, or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and escalate as needed.
  • Effective prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with teams.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems such as SAP or EWM is highly desirable.
