Job Details
Responsibilities:
1. Manage a significant caseload of mass tort cases, ensuring all cases are handled timely and accurately.
2. Draft and file pleadings, motions, and other legal documents under the supervision of attorneys.
3. Coordinate and manage scheduling for trials, depositions, and meetings.
4. Provide comprehensive trial support, including preparation of trial exhibits and coordination of witness testimony.
5. Participate in the discovery process, including the preparation of discovery requests and responses.
6. Request, review, and summarize medical records and other case materials.
7. Assist in the management of multi-district litigation (MDL) cases.
8. Conduct detailed research on product liability cases and provide summarized reports to attorneys.
9. Coordinate communication with clients, court personnel, and other legal professionals.
10. Prepare for trial by organizing exhibits, assisting with witness preparation, managing trial files, and providing in-courtroom assistance as needed.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a paralegal, with specific experience in mass tort litigation.
2. A paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved institution or equivalent work experience.
3. Proficiency in drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
4. Strong knowledge of the discovery process and trial preparation.
5. Experience in managing mass tort caseloads and multi-district litigation.
6. Familiarity with medical records, their request, and review processes.
7. Proficiency in legal research, particularly in the area of product liability.
8. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
9. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
10. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
11. Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
12. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
13. High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
