Job Title: Marketing Content Writer
Location-Type: Remote - 15-20 hrs/week (flexible hours, can be done off hours, communicating via Slack)
Start Date Is: March 2nd
Duration: 4-month contract (potential to extend)
Compensation Range: $30/hr – $35.75/hr W2
Job Description:
The Marketing Content Writer will produce high-quality, SEO-driven organic content to support multiple online degree programs and increase web traffic, engagement, and conversion.
3 Open Positions:
- 1 Content writer - marketing content focused / very broad
- 1 Content writer - tech & business focused
- 1 Content writer - education / lifestyle / psychology focused
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Write primarily long-form blog content (approximately 90% of workload)
Produce mid-funnel, keyword-focused content designed to drive conversion
Create thought leadership and awareness content featuring faculty expertise
Translate complex academic and technical topics into audience-friendly narratives
Work from SEO-led content briefs and expand them through independent research
Optimize content for SEO, internal linking, AI Overviews, and LLM retrievability
Interview faculty members and subject matter experts to incorporate quotes and insights
Manage batches of assignments and meet rolling deadlines asynchronously
Collaborate with SEO and organic marketing stakeholders via Slack
Requirements:
Must-Haves:
3–5 years of experience in organic content marketing or content writing
Strong portfolio demonstrating narrative-driven, well-structured content
Proven experience writing SEO-optimized blog content from scratch
Knowledge of keyword strategy, internal linking, and search intent
Experience writing for complex or technical topics in a clear, accessible way
Familiarity with AI content optimization (AIO/GEO, LLM retrievability)
Excellent written communication and self-management skills
Comfortable working asynchronously and collaboratively
Nice-to-Haves:
Experience writing for higher education subject matter
Advanced SEO skills, including keyword research and SERP analysis
Subject-matter experience in one or more areas:
Tech or data science
Business or MBA-related topics
Counseling, psychology, mental health, or social work
