Title: Manufacturing/ Quality Engineer

Client: Heavy Machine Manufacturing Company

Duration: 2 Years (Possible Extension)

Location: Dubuque, IA 52001

Shift: 3rd Shift | Sun Thu | 10:00 PM 6:00 AM

Role Summary

• On-site 3rd shift manufacturing and quality support
• Ensure production flow, weld quality, and process compliance
• Support Fabrication (D155/D156) and D157 operations
• Communicate issues to 1st shift engineering and leadership

Production Support

• Support operators with equipment, tooling and process troubleshooting
• Monitor fabrication and welding operations for safety and standard work
• Verify tooling/fixture performance and escalate issues
• Support ramp-ups, process changes and skilled trades activities

Quality Assurance

• Perform in-process quality checks and audits
• Document non-conformances and initiate containment
• Coordinate suspect material disposition with Quality team
• Ensure weld and inspection standard compliance

Process and Continuous Improvement

• Identify safety, ergonomics, productivity and flow improvements
• Capture operator feedback and relay to 1st shift teams
• Support and validate process updates on the shop floor

Required Skills and Experience

• Manufacturing, Weld, Mechanical, or Quality Engineering background
• Manufacturing experience (fabrication/welding preferred)
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of quality systems and non-conformance processes
• Ability to work independently on 3rd shift
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

• Welding processes, fixtures and fabrication tooling
• Lean / 5S / CI tools
• Union environment experience
• Automation or robot programming exposure

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Industrial Technology or equivalent experience

Work Requirements

• On-site, shop-floor focused role
• Frequent exposure to welding and automated equipment
• PPE required
• Flexible hours for shift handoff support
