Gear Manufacturing Process Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
- Support manufacturing process engineering activities for gear machining operations
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity
- Complete all PPAP quality launch documentation
- Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and improve manufacturing processes and products
- Develop action plans to investigate and prioritize open issues and verify corrective actions on internal and supplier processes
- Lead and conduct process audits to ensure compliance with powertrain guidelines
- Conduct ergonomic evaluations and implement corrective actions
- Create process and instruction sheets supporting quality methods and processes
- Deliver capable processes and tools for all gear machining operations
- Lead variability reduction, lean manufacturing initiatives, and best practices
- Ensure compliance with plant, corporate, governmental, and environmental standards
- Support ISO 14001 compliance and internal auditing as required
- Identify throughput constraints and drive root cause improvements to achieve rate of climb targets
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or related field
- Demonstrated leadership in client behaviors and strong interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills
- Knowledge of manufacturing engineering, lean manufacturing, and manufacturing processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Experience in hypoid bevel gear processes (blanking, milling, grinding, heat treat, shot peening)
- Familiarity with quality assessment tools (QDAS, Minitab) and gear CMM equipment (Klingelnburg P40, Gleason Nano)
- Experience with Lean Tools (5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, Value Stream Mapping)
- Six Sigma methodology, DMAIC/DMADV, 8D and 5Why problem-solving
- FMEA, PPAP, and DOE experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Work Environment:
Onsite in a manufacturing environment, working directly with production and engineering teams.
