Manufacturing Process Engineer
GENERAL PURPOSE
Establish a thorough and complete manufacturing plan to achieve the most efficient and high quality products for our customers. Create, find and evaluate, better and more efficient ways to manufacture products, which involves techniques, processes, and procedures in all phases of manufacturing with a strong focus on continuous improvement of product and quality through leaner concepts and activities.
A successful end result requires a broad knowledge of equipment and tools and the ability to effect change through influence. The work of a Manufacturing Process Engineer is often hands-on, interacting with shop floor personnel, quality, engineering and other manufacturing groups to ensure the most effective plans are created and implemented.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position may participate in one or more of the following duties as directed by supervision or management.
Develop and maintain cost effective manufacturing processes and procedures from customer drawings specifications and part models ensuring conformance to customer requirements and quality.
Assist other departments by providing ongoing technical support of projects including manufacturability.
Develop estimates to achieve the lowest cost and ensure the shortest lead time while maintaining a high level of quality.
Coordinate activities of assigned projects including support of the MRB process, RCA (Root Cause Analysis), operations, quality and problem solving manufacturing process issues.
Provide recommendations for equipment, fixtures, tooling and automation equipment as necessary to produce products and assemblies.
Establish detailed manufacturing procedures into the M1 ERP system and maintain key elements including part structure and routings.
Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities throughout the manufacturing process and company.
Develop and maintain the appropriate documentation for projects, parts, fixtures, tooling and assemblies, including engineering and manufacturing process changes.
Attend and participate in organizational meetings within the company and customers when appropriate.
Review customer supplied and internal documents & models for contractual requirements and manufacturability and work to determine the proposed course of action to satisfy each contract.
Research and analyze materials, tools, fixtures and processes required to manufacture product in the most efficient manner.
Develop and define new processes, with the approval of management.
Create accurate and complete process drawings and documents in a timely manner that effectively communicate process specific requirements and procedures that comply with Industry and customer requirements while mitigating potential failure modes.
Collaborate with Production and Quality, as appropriate, to identify, propose, plan and implement process refinements and enhancements.
Identify, create and implement document changes as necessary.
Provide troubleshooting support for production related activities in area of expertise.
Offer technical support and expertise to estimating, purchasing, and production activities.
Offer training support to individuals in areas of expertise.
Provide written and/or verbal technical support, to internal departments, suppliers and customers.
Provide technical support during audits, as necessary.
Share technical knowledge with the Engineering/Estimating team while gained during the execution and implementation of projects, research activities, or customer involvement.
Assist in troubleshooting activities at the machine/process to solve unforeseen manufacturing challenges.
Assist with estimating activities as a technical resource.
Perform other additional, duties, as required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associate Degree in Machine Tool, Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering or related field with a minimum of 2 years of related manufacturing experience.
5 years related manufacturing experience.
Medical or Aerospace/Defense Industry experience
2-5 years hands-on machining experience and/or experience working in a job shop environment
Proven technical writing skills
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, Solidworks or similar CAD software and capable of learning M1 Manufacturing Planning system.
Ability to read and interpret prints that utilize GD&T.
Excellent reading comprehension.
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Organized, with an aptitude for manufacturing processes.
Able to work with people in a professional manner.
Personnel performing acceptance activities of product shall have natural or corrected near-vision acuity of 20/20 in at least one eye per Titmus screening or equivalent.
