My client is a leading manufacturer of diagnostic healthcare solutions serving to enhance the health and well being of people around the globe with well known and respected products that provide healthcare professionals with accurate and cost-effective diagnostic information at the point of care (POC). Core competencies and capabilities focus on immunoassay and molecular testing in the areas of: infectious disease, women’s health, and virology.
- Design improvements for the manufacturability of injection molded parts
- Responsible for the mechanical design and development of automation projects including user requirements, test plans, prototyping, assembly, testing and final production release.
- Integrity of Manufacturing Instructions (MI’s)
- Approve Manufacturing Routings and BOM’s
- Author IQ, OQ, and PQ Protocols
- Develop and release MFG documentation for new products and processes (ECO’s)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
New Product Development
- Develop manufacturing strategies to support the transfer of products from R&D to production and ensure product specifications are consistent with standard raw materials and manufacturing processes.
- Engineering & Process Improvement
- Apply engineering techniques to sustain and maximize current manufacturing efficiencies. Areas include: wet chemistry processing and filling, automated and manual assembly. Identify and implement new technologies and continuous improvement to optimize manufacturing process output. Develop and maintain Manufacturing Instructions, SPC, Routings and Bill of Materials.
Project Management
- Manage and / or provide engineering guidance for cross-functional project teams functioning at either the team leader or team member capacity. Generate project plans and timelines using Microsoft® Project.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 4-6 years of mechanical design experience including injection molded plastic part design, high speed automation, precision mechanism, and robotics.
- Knowledge/Skills
- Hands on experience with Electrical-Mechanical process and assembly automation in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Proficient in SolidWorks, PDM, or EPDM
- Ability to interpret specifications and mechanical drawings including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Data-driven decision making
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
