- Candidates must have at least three (3) years of relevant experience in operating large trucks and heavy equipment, pay loaders, dump trucks, forklifts, back-hoes with at least one (1) year of lead/supervisory experience with a bachelor’s degree.
- Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
- Experience driving front-end and roll-off trucks is strongly preferred.
- Must be willing to obtain a Class B Commercial Drivers’ License within 12 months of employment.
- Also, the incumbent must have a safe driving record with less than 6 points and maintain conditions of the CDL including random drug testing and DOT physical.
Position is Essential and subject to 24/7/365 operation, including mandatory overtime for weather related or emergency situations. Experience working in adverse weather conditions and snow removal experience are strongly desired.

The University of Maryland has an opening for an experienced Manager for the Solid Waste unit. Primary responsibility is to supervise the Solid Waste Management drivers and supervisor in the operation of front-end and roll-off solid waste trucks, collecting, transporting, and dumping of the University’s solid waste materials. Duties include driving/operating trucks or equipment for solid waste collections, route scheduling, employee training, Work Order management, and purchase order management. This position is also responsible for maintenance and repair of various dumpsters.
