Responsibilities:

Under the leadership of Risk Management and Patient Relations Director and according to established policies and procedures, the Risk Manager works as part of a system-wide risk management program designed to understand drivers of events, improve patient safety, reduce occurrences, minimize regulatory complaints, and minimize claims damages. The Risk Manager will thoroughly investigate clinical grievances, potential compensatory events and institution-wide incident reports; and collaborate with the Claims Department for resolution and with Quality and Patient Safety Department for system opportunities when applicable. Risk Managers protect Mercy and its providers by providing guidance for and review of patient care notes, patient dismissals, patient grievances, product recalls, patient consents and other risk matters. The Risk Manager supports all of MHS, including the medical center, all outpatient/hub locations and Stella Maris and the Transitional Care Unit, assisting with policy development/changes to ensure the institution is in compliance with the law and other regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

 

  • Education and Work Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in clinical field.
    • At least 3-5 years of clinical healthcare experience
  • License Requirements:
    • Must possess an active Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant license in the state of Maryland
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel
    • Microsoft Outlook
    • Epic 
    • Midas Incident Reporting System
    • Electronic Performance Appraisal System
    • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:
      • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
      • Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
      • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
      • Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
      • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Min: USD $41.07/Hr. Max: USD $73.93/Hr. Salary Information: Compensation decisions are made in alignment with internal equity, role scope, and market data to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. Most new hires are typically placed within the lower to mid-portion of the range; offers above that level are reserved for candidates with advanced or highly specialized qualifications. Benefits:
