The Manager of Training is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining training programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Company policies and procedures. Oversees and supervises all employees in training status, including new hires and those in progressive training programs, while supporting workforce development and operational readiness.
Responsibilities:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and implement training programs covering Florida East Coast Railway rules, policies, and procedures in compliance with FRA regulations
- Design and develop training curriculum for both classroom and field environments
- Train and coach employees on worksite safety practices and operational standards
- Conduct classroom instruction and hands-on field training
- Assist in the coordination and execution of annual ride evaluations to ensure compliance with Company and regulatory requirements
- Schedule and manage trainee assignments to ensure proper development, coverage, and alignment with operational needs
- Work closely with Transportation Supervisors to evaluate employee performance, support development, and assist in the promotion process
- Determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated and follow up to ensure implementation
- Maintain accurate training records, files, and documentation
- Collaborate with field leadership to align training initiatives with operational goals and workforce development
- Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of railroad experience
- FRA Certified Through Freight Locomotive Engineer
- Working knowledge of FRA rules and regulations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of experience in railroad operations and safety
- Experience delivering training in both classroom and field environments
- Yardmaster experience
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytical ability
- Strong problem-solving skills with sound business judgment and decision-making capability
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance procedures, and regulatory documents
- Demonstrated leadership abilities including coaching, mentoring, and team development
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing systems and operational needs in a team environment
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Up to 75% travel required
- Ability to work a non-standard schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must pass background and drug screening
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
