Manager Fixed Assets and Project Accounting

Our client is seeking an experienced Manager of Fixed Assets & Project Accounting to lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for capital project accounting and the full lifecycle of fixed assets for a growing energy company. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate capital reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and partnering with operational and project leadership to support large-scale capital initiatives.

The successful candidate will bring strong leadership capabilities, deep knowledge of fixed asset accounting, and hands-on experience managing project cost workflows and capital reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop a combined Project Accounting and Fixed Assets team (2 direct reports).
• Build scalable processes and support the team through operational and organizational changes.

Project Accounting & Capital Management

• Own project setup, workflow administration, and AFE system/process management.
• Manage project cost accounting processes to ensure capital expenditures are tracked accurately and efficiently.
• Oversee capital project reporting, forecasting, and month-end close processes related to project accounting.

Governance & Compliance

• Guide compliance with delegation of authority, approvals, and internal policies related to capital projects.
• Ensure proper documentation, controls, and audit readiness across capital project activities.

Business Partnership

• Foster strong collaboration with operations, project managers, and senior finance leadership to support capital investment decisions.
• Provide financial insight into project performance, capital planning, and budget variances.

Fixed Asset Accounting

• Oversee the full lifecycle of fixed assets, including managing asset rollforward schedules
• Month end reconciliations, journal entries and accruals
• Point of contact for the auditors regarding project accounting, capital spending and fixed assets

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• 5+ years of leadership experience in a supervisory or managerial accounting role.
• Strong experience in fixed asset accounting, including placing assets in service, depreciation, retirements, and related journal entries.
• Demonstrated experience with project cost accounting and administration of project workflows, including approval processes and delegation of authority structures.
• Managing capital project reporting, forecasting, and month-end close processes.
• Experience in the energy, utilities, oil & gas, or infrastructure industries.
• Familiarity with AFE systems and capital project accounting systems.
• Proven ability to lead teams through change, integrate new processes, and drive operational improvements.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional partners.

Salary: $125K-160K, depending on experience
