Responsibilities:
- The Consumer Insights function at Client is critical in driving customer centricity and ensuring the success and relevance of our businesses.
- Through rigorous analyses, creative thinking, and deep partnership with the business, we develop a customer-focused strategic direction for our company.
- Insights are used across our portfolio of brands, and in various functions, from product development to customer service
- As a Manager on the Consumer Insights team, you independently drive research planning and execution, and deliver data-based insights that clearly drive action.
- You have a good understanding of standard research methodologies and are a trusted thought partner by your stakeholders, sometimes sought after for your point of view given your good understanding in research. You are comfortable with ambiguous questions and creating a research plan to answer them.
- Independently manage multiple projects simultaneously (3-5) with seamless execution, ensuring high quality of work and close collaboration with stakeholders and your leader/team as support.
- Initiate the creation of the annual research roadmaps based on business priorities through proactive meetings with stakeholders and your leader that then drive your priorities.
- Manage budget and timelines for your projects and work with leader to ensure it fits into the broader brand/CI budget
Scoping:
- Ability to independently translate ambiguous business questions into an initial research plan that is then shared for refinement (with leader and stakeholders)
- Own the scheduling and conduct a kickoff meeting including an agenda to discuss research objectives, hypotheses, business priority, timing and budget)
- Proactive collaboration with leader to align on budget and priority as well as thought-partnership on approach.
- Planning: Creation of project timeline with key milestone dates (kick off, draft guide/survey, programming, field, report draft, shareout).
- Proactive delivery of project timeline to stakeholders which includes regular updates on progress and advance/proactive notification of any roadblocks that impact the timeline.
- Execution: Development of research stimuli (discussion guide, survey), including meeting with business partners to take them through.
- Collaboration with research leaders and peers to gain thought partnership on innovative or new ways to answer or solve problems (collaboration beyond just sending an email for request for feedback, specifically collaboration in person to understand the breadth and depth of the problems being asked to solve)
- Reporting: Create and deliver high quality reports leveraging insights to offer strategic recommendations that are actionable by the business
- Seeks out for ways to ‘connect the dots’ using other sources (e.g., Medallia, YouGov, other data sources or past research) to support your story/findings.
- Proactively solicit review and feedback (for quality and thought partnership) from internal CI team and leader prior to sharing with stakeholders.
- Create and deliver presentations of your reports that showcase you as a strong storyteller who is focused more on the ‘so what’ than the data point itself.
- Follow up post-research delivery to understand impact of your work (e.g., how were the insights used in the business, what did they influence, what was acted on, and what could be improved in the future)
- Vendors: Experience working with and managing third party vendors end-to-end on projects is a plus
- Active participation in research execution including:
- Regular check ins participation in all qualitative research sessions,
- active dialog on early data reads/insights to help shape the reporting/story based on your awareness of business needs,
- Thorough report review and edit to ‘own’ the deliverable as a Client deliverable and ensure high quality/relevancy and impact to business needs.
- Post-mortem follow up to provide feedback to the vendor via proactive solicitation of impact from stakeholders/team/leader.
Requirements:
- Be a trusted and valued strategic partner to your stakeholders, meeting regularly to hear their needs.
- Seek out and build relationships with cross-functional teams who rely on your insights to do their job (e.g., strategy, marketing, merchandising, PDM, etc.) including internal CI team stakeholders.
- Maintains a growth mindset by being open to feedback and is accountable for mistakes (and learns from them)
- Proactively seek out opportunities to collaborate and work with peers on the CI team to promote learning and growth (as a team and self)
- Substantial professional experience in Marketing Research, Consumer Insights, and/ or Strategy/Strategic Management consulting (5+ years)
- Proven record of delivering consumer-led business outcomes
- A natural curiosity: always asking the next question and seeking to understand at the nuanced level to spark a new idea.
- Ability to synthesize information into a clear, simple story and visualize data
- Positive attitude of Own it, Do it, Done; Enjoys learning from and teaching others
- Trusted by peers and business partners who enjoy working with you
- Exceptional knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office tools (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
