Management Company Controller

Our firm is representing a $10B AUM multi-strategy alternative asset manager in Boston. Due to growth, they are looking to hire a Management Company Controller to oversee the financial operations of the management company and support senior leadership with reporting, budgeting, and strategic financial planning.

Hybrid: Boston, MA (3-4 days/week in-office schedule)
Compensation: $160k–$190k base + 20% bonus
Position Type: Full-Time

What You’ll Do

• Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements

• Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits

• Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting

• Monitor performance vs. budget and provide variance analysis and insights to leadership

• Manage cash flow, liquidity, and treasury/banking relationships

• Supervise payroll, benefits administration, and accounts payable

• Maintain internal controls, financial governance, and risk management practices

• Serve as the primary point of contact for communicating financial position and updates to firm leadership

• Partner with senior leadership on strategic planning and key initiatives

Ideal Background

• 8+ years of accounting/finance experience (investment management preferred; other professional services considered)

• Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance

• Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis

• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Office Suite
