Position Summary

At STERIS Applied Sterilization Technologies (AST), this role is more than a job—it’s how we do business. Through a global network of over 50 facilities, STERIS AST has provided contract sterilization services to the medical device, pharmaceutical, consumer, and industrial communities for more than 40 years. Our work helps ensure the safety of products used every day by patients, families, friends, and communities around the world.

As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in keeping operations running safely, efficiently, and reliably in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Schedule

7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Thursday – Saturday with rotating Wednesdays

Pay

$30.00/hour + $1.25/hour shift differential

What You’ll Do

  • Optimize processing and reduce downtime through predictive and preventative maintenance on equipment, machinery, and facility systems
  • Support installation of new equipment as required
  • Perform scheduled safety and maintenance inspections and complete documentation to GMP standards
  • Respond to maintenance calls on a 24/7 basis as assigned and participate in rotating on‑call support
  • Maintain spare parts programs and production downtime records
  • Install, repair, and maintain HVAC, lighting, wiring, and mechanical systems
  • Adhere to Lockout/Tagout, MSDS, environmental, and hot‑work requirements
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and respond constructively to audit findings
  • Maintain and grow technical skillsets through training, certifications, and hands‑on learning
  • Utilize computerized maintenance systems to complete work orders and training
  • Operate according to the STERIS Code of Business Conduct, GMPs, and safety directives

Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical, or electrical systems
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Computer literacy (work orders, documentation, basic software)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to wear a respirator and work in warm or industrial environments

Preferred

  • PLC or controls experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and math skills
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
  • Prior industrial or manufacturing environment experience

  • Willingness to work in a 24/7/365 operation, including holidays
