MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I
Summary:
Responsible for the maintenance of blow mold equipment in a 24/7 manufacturing plant. |
Duties:
- Responsible for equipment set-up and performance in the assigned department
- Ensures operation of machinery by completing preventive maintenance requirements on, production machines, conveyor systems and support equipment;
- By following manufacturer’s instructions troubleshoots machines mechanically and hydraulically
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical operation and listens for problems.
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.
- Orders spare parts as necessary
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Preparing and performing machine changeovers to company standards, setting up lines to optimize production and efficiency
- Makes mechanical adjustments using the correct hand tools.
- Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
- May fabricate repair parts by using machine shop equipment.
- Maintains equipment, parts, and supply inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Minimizes the number of rejected bottles due to machine or process problems, ensuring bottles meet quality specifications following machine set ups and repairs
- Responsible for keeping updated maintenance records for all machines, communicating necessary machine informatio9n to supervisors and machine technicians
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Teaching and training new and current operators
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing facility, blow mold experience highly preferred
- Demonstrate good attendance- report to work as scheduled and on time
- Demonstrate ability to understand and follow written and verbal work instructions
- Possess the required tools to successfully perform your job duties
- Ability to fill out pertinent documentation neatly and legibly
- Ability to work independently. Is self-motivated and self-directed
- Demonstrates the ability to pay close attention to detail
- Can effectively communicate cross-departmentally and with the management team at all levels
Physical Requirements:
- Standing All Day, up to 12 hours depending on facility
- 20/20 vision or corrective eyewear
- Intricate dexterity and ambidextrous use of hands and fingers.
- Standing and walking continuously.
- Climbing ladders to a maximum seven feet.
Quality & Food Safety:
- Maintain a “food safe” environment. Report any food safety related issues to the Maintenance Manager or Quality Coordinator
- Understand the basic principles of HAACP and food safety and how they apply to your job
- Adhere to prescribed Good Manufacturing Practices
- Perform cleaning as assigned per the Master Cleaning Schedule. Sign off and date that cleaning was completed
- Complete all quality and food safety training as assigned
- Can locate and reference documents (forms, work aids, work instructions) that are relevant to your job
- Understand how to create new documents (forms, work aids, work instructions, etc.) and update existing documents as needed
- Be knowledgeable of our customers complaints, understand how they impact the plant and know how your role is preventing them from occurring
- Ensure that when repairs are complete, equipment, and area is clean and meets food safety requirements prior to going back into service
- Ensure that all tools are recovered and accounted for when work is complete and prior to putting equipment back into service
- Know the primary and secondary egress routes in the event of an emergency evacuation
- work to prevent injuries to yourself and those around you
- Establish and maintain good housekeeping
- Perform periodic safety inspections of your assigned area
- Complete authorized lock-out-tag-out training
- Know the additional PPE requirements needed to perform operator job duties
- Follow all SQF and GMP’s while working at the premises of the company. Follow all safety guidelines, PPE, and company standards.
