12-Hour (Straight) 2-2-3 Maintenance Technician

Location: Denmark, WI
Schedule: 12-hour shifts (rotating schedule may apply)
Type: Full-time, Direct Hire

Position Summary

The 12-Hour Maintenance Technician supports production and facility operations by performing a wide range of mechanical maintenance and basic electrical work to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment. This role is critical to keeping operations running safely and efficiently while meeting food safety, quality, SQF, GMP, and USDA requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on production and facility equipment
  • Respond to emergency/unscheduled repairs during production to reduce downtime
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (PMs) on machinery and plant systems
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, work requests, and schematics
  • Perform basic machining and welding as needed
  • Support and monitor plant systems including:
    • Boiler and ammonia refrigeration systems (checks/adjustments)
    • Pump systems (pH adjustments, drives, switches)
    • HVAC (PMs, filters, coil cleaning)
    • Air/vacuum compressors
  • Perform general facility maintenance including plumbing and carpentry (restrooms and break areas included)
  • Use hand/power tools, meters, and material handling equipment safely
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures without exception
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Technology, Electro-mechanical Technology (or related) preferred
  • Craft apprenticeship completion is a plus

Experience

  • 3+ years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • USDA-regulated manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Preferred experience with: PLCboilersammonia refrigerationHVAC, AC drives, gearboxes, chain/belt drives, pumps, and power systems

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Solid mechanical and electrical repair knowledge
  • Forklift certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook
  • AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience is a plus

Physical & Work Environment

  • Frequent standing/walking; repetitive use of hands/arms/shoulders
  • Regular lifting up to 50 lbs, occasional lifting/moving up to 75 lbs
  • Temperature variation (approx. 35°F to 100°F), wet/slippery conditions at times, and loud production environment
  • PPE required on the production floor (frocks, hairnets, hearing protection, EH-rated composite toe slip-resistant footwear; gloves/goggles/face shield as needed)
