POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Maintenance Technician possesses the technical knowledge and performs in one or more of the maintenance disciplines (electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, refrigeration). It is responsible for the installation, corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance of mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation systems and equipment, in order to maintain the continuity of the operations it supports. Complies with applicable regulations and maintenance schedule for them. Executes and documents its activities following Good Manufacturing Practices and Documentation (GMP).  

 

 

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Available to work rotating shifts (including 7 days) and extended hours
  2. Provides maintenance support in the areas of manufacturing, packaging, utilities or physical plant. Documents corrective, preventive, predictive maintenance to mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation equipment in the areas it supports.
  3. Perform troubleshooting analysis ("Troubleshooting").  Diagnoses malfunctions of electrical systems, equipment, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a fault and correct the problem.
  4. Coordinate and perform Predictive inspections such as vibration analysis, infrared analysis, ultrasonic analysis, oil analysis, mechanical seal handling, laser alignment or other technology as required (practical experience desirable).
  5. Keeps the work environment, personal tools, and equipment always clean and in good condition by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Handles all tools and equipment safely and efficiently following applicable usage and safety rules.
  6. Perform repairs or maintenance on utility and process systems.
  7. Adjusts, calibrates and/or repairs process control and measurement instruments such as: pressure, flow, temperature, conductivity transmitters and records, balances, etc.
  8. Maintains and/or repairs programmable control systems such as: PLC's and distributed control modules; Pneumatic control systems such as: Control valves and pressure regulators; Electronic control systems such as: HVAC controls, valves, PLC's and variable speed controls (VFD's).
  9. Reads and interprets diagrams of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, and electrical systems.
  10. Supports other personnel as required in the execution, evaluation and review of preventive and/or corrective maintenance.
  11. Wiring control systems, emergency lights and/or transformers, general lighting, motors, and all electrical equipment in the plant. Install and verify ground connections.  In the case of electricians, they provide maintenance to the plant's high-voltage system.
  12. It uses a variety of tools and equipment, such as measuring equipment, power tools, and test equipment including ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, ammeters, meggers, and others to ensure the operation and safety of the electrical equipment or system.
  13. Comply with all training, procedures, guidelines, practices, cGMP, environmental permit conditions, and internal notifications of any environmental event. 

            14.Perform other job-related functions, as required or that may arise in the future.

 

 Job Requirements

 

Education:

  •                - Technical Course or preferably Associate Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Industrial Mechanics, Electromechanics, Electricity or Refrigeration.

Experience:

  •                 - Minimum one (1) year of experience in a similar position within the pharmaceutical or manufacturing industry.

Licenses:

  •                 - Not required.

 

        Technical Competencies:

 

  1. Fluency in speaking, writing (emails) and reading and interpreting, receiving instructions for significant material (technical diagrams, work orders), receiving verbal instructions and/or written procedures in English (preferred).
  2. Preferably with basic knowledge in the maintenance of PLC's and SAP systems, computer, and related documentation.

               3.Add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate and interpret percentages, average and interpolate values, understand and use significant figures and tolerances.

               4.Capable of interpreting and making conversions of units of measurement such as temperature, pressure, flow, area, mass, distance, volume, others.

               5.Able to analyze the assigned tasks and determine the way, tools and/or safety equipment necessary to perform the task.

               6.Technical ability to determine the origin of problems in the systems it maintains, perform an efficient analysis, and apply technical knowledge in the search for root causes ("troubleshooting").
