About This Role

This position exists to provide supervision, leadership and direction to a multiple craft crew of 7-10 employees and up to two students to assist in the duties required for administration and technical work of multiple large university facilities. The crew is responsible for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, asbestos, lead, fire systems, building systems, preventative and reactionary maintenance. To help maintain the aesthetics and building operations to help attract and retain students in their learning environment.

About Us

The Division of Facilities' maintenance personnel conduct routine preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment to ensure the operational reliability of our campus' building systems. This maintenance involves regular, scheduled service to maintain equipment functionality without the need for immediate repairs. Many of the older buildings have systems and equipment that have exceeded their expected lifespan, highlighting the value of a strong preventive maintenance program.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and five years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years’ experience in supervision.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices used in operating, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems and electrical equipment of a physical plant and large commercial buildings.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement work schedules and to otherwise supervise all aspects of the work performed by subordinate staff members.
  • Prefer knowledge of KDHE, CFC, asbestos, lead based paint, mold, and EPA regulations
